NIGHTSHADE MYSTERY THEATRE offers a fun and exciting collection of mysteries in the 2008 Mystery Theatre Dinner Train series on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. The scenic vistas or star-lit skies of Western North Carolina pass by your dining car window as comic tales of intrigue unfold between the courses of a delightful dinner. Your skills as a sleuth will be needed to solve the ultimate mystery. The three-hour Mystery Dinner Theatre Train pulls out of the Dillsboro Depot at 7:30 PM (October 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31st Mystery Trains depart at 8:00 PM). Business casual/Cocktail Attire dress code enforced. This means no jeans, t-shirts, shorts, flip flops, tennis shoes or baseball caps and dressing in good taste. Age 21 & over please. May: 2 – 9 – 16 – 23 – 30 “CURTAINS AT THE SPEAKEASY” is back to bring Boss Dynamite Devine’s organization together for daughter Faith’s birthday celebration. Devine’s ex-wife Josephine is there as well as new wife Dixie, and all the usual suspects. Whose candles will be blown out?
June: 6 – 13 – 20 – 27 “MURDER IN THE WIND” is set at the gala premiere of a new film by Hugh R. Awsum. The stars Cliff B. Noates and Isabelle Rhinghing are there, as well as Mr. Stunt, Ben Dover. As the film begins, shots ring out; detectives Ed and Ned Head help the guests sort out the innocent from the guilty.
July: 3 - 4 – 10 - 11 - 17 – 18 “SCAVENGER’S LUCK” is needed to find the will of M.T. O’Lay, founder of the Golden Egg Society; an exclusive club that mounts exotic scavenger hunts across the globe. Unlikely players include a plantation owner, cab driver, famous model, chef, riverboat captain and computer nerd. Will they all make the finish line?
August: 8 – 15 – 22 – 29 “A NEW MYSTERY” premieres in the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad with colorful characters, a story filled with twists and turns, and the promise of an evening of laughs. Train cars become detective agencies as guests question suspects and solve a mystery.
September: 5 – 12 – 19 – 26 “A FINAL HOMECOMING” features a mysterious gem mine, an amazing tattoo, and a scheme to develop the mountain ridges – just some of the secrets spilled when the Higbee Clan meets the real estate developer. Who’s going to buy the farm?
October: 2 – 3 – 9 – 10 – 16 – 17 “IMPORTED SPIRITS” is set at the 1922 convention of SSPAM, Society of Supernaturalists, Psychics & American Mentalists, but moon shiners have seized upon this meeting and spirit their spirits out of town. A hilarious romp with Séances, secret recipes, and white lightening.
October: 23 – 24 – 30 – 31 & November 7 “RIGHT UNDER THE DEVIL’S NOSE” brings together modern day treasure hunters to mount an expedition to Lake Titimama. Is fearless leader Johnny another Indiana Jones, or is he the con artist of the century? All the investors in the audience must find the answers to solve a mystery.
